Curated Home Pieces With A Story To Tell - Másik Történet

The other day, I stumbled across a hidden treasure on Instagram. The brand másik történet (which translates to other story), founded in 2020 by the talented interior designer and art collector Andrea Farkas, immediately drew me in. With a unique concept that weaves together vintage elegance and modern design, this brand is a celebration of timeless stories told through furniture and decor.

Introducing the Brand

At its core, másik történet is about blending the old with the new. Andrea masterfully incorporates vintage treasures into contemporary settings, creating eclectic, layered interiors that feel deeply personal yet universal. From mid-century tubular steel furniture to handcrafted Hungarian art objects, her collection spans decades and styles, reflecting a love for the past while fitting seamlessly into the present.

What inspired you to create másik történet? "As an interior designer, I always envisioned eclectic designs but often found it challenging to implement my ideas for clients. However, I came across many unique and special vintage items, and I was determined to give them a new life in new homes."

Personal Touch

Andrea’s passion goes beyond sourcing beautiful objects; it’s about creating connections. For her, each item has a story and a purpose. She often personally delivers pieces to customers, cherishing the chance to establish meaningful relationships and ensure her clients feel the care that goes into every transaction.

Through her work, she seeks to revive a culture of appreciation for quality and timelessness, reintroducing items whose value transcends trends.

What motivates you most in your work? "I envisioned a completely honest, refined, eclectic, vintage style that I could share with my customers. It took time to bring this vision to life, but I believe I have succeeded now."

Sourcing of the Products

Andrea’s sourcing process is a labor of love. Over the years, she’s built relationships with trusted individuals who alert her to exceptional finds. From scouring local markets to acquiring rare items in Italy, France, or the UK, her work involves meticulous research and a keen understanding of trends and demand.

She watches auctions in Hungary and abroad, invests in unique items (never mass-produced), and sometimes waits months for the perfect piece. Whether it’s a mid-century lamp or a rare art book from London, Andrea ensures every piece meets her high standards for authenticity and charm.

How do you select the items for your collection?

There are always pieces I stumble upon by chance, which then inspire me to find matching items. Sometimes, I fall in love with something and start searching relentlessly to acquire it, even if it means digging it up from the ground. Most recently, I traveled to London for the long-desired Picasso & Maya albums.

Where to Find Másik Történet

You can browse this curated collection online, and yes, orders are available across Europe! However, if you want to experience her pieces up close, her pop-up events are unmissable.

Last year’s pop-up in Győr drew visitors from Budapest and beyond, and the atmosphere was unforgettable. The connection Andrea creates through these events is unparalleled; she’s often told, "It’s even more beautiful in person!" She plans to bring her next pop-up to Budapest from 29 November to 1 December at Illustri Studio, offering an intimate space for her audience to fall in love with her collection in real life.
